Cheap Used Car

Q.Would you please let me know what happens if I buy a used car having no tax but a long MOT? Can I drive it home without any problem?(There is a one hour driving distance there!) Can I drive it when I have provisional license but at the same time a full license from another country?

A.Absolutely not. If it has an MoT but no tax you need to tax and insure it before you drive it away from the seller's premises. I'm not an expert on issues relating to foreign driving licences, but most will allow you to drive in the UK for a period of time (6 or 12 months IIRC), but after that you need to acquire a UK licence. However insurers may be reluctant to insure you on a foreign licence. You need to have it taxed and insured. You cannot drive it alone if you have a provisional licence for this country so you also need a qualifying passenger (full licence) and L-Plates. If your full licence was accepted in the UK you would have been issued with a full one by DVLA.
